"Dan Choi is a 29-year-old West Point graduate who was discharged from the military in July because he had gone public about his homosexuality. He walked into a Times Square recruiting station on Tuesday afternoon to join the U.S. Marines Corp. But he says he was denied because he’s too old. So he decided to enlist in the army instead, and began the process. He plans to enter as a specialist. Last week, a court struck down a law banning gays from serving openly. The Defense Department said it had suspended its policy banning gays."

<3 Dan Choi. Went to elementary, middle and high school with Dan. We played in band together (me flute, him trumpet), starting in elementary school. He lived one block from me, and was our HS Class President.

It’s cliche but we always knew he’d be someone who made a difference in the world.
