On the weekends I make the good coffee.
Sunset has crept earlier and earlier into the day in an alarming fashion. This week I’ve felt the change. The sun setting before I leave work has forced me to remember we’ll have a fall and winter, a cooling down, a set of darker days, even after a rather mild summer, even in Southern California.
We’re a certain type of spoiled here, no doubt. I’m soaking up today’s fair weather and sunshine gratefully but I find myself missing an obvious transition into fall, the turning leaves and the more-than-crisp air and the day you wake up remembering that snow exists. The long run from pre-Halloween to Thanksgiving is my favorite time of year, would be in any climate. I’m especially looking forward to it this year.
