Watching “Footloose” for the first time. WHY WAS I NOT INFORMED THAT THERE IS A TRAINING MONTAGE IN THIS MOVIE? You are all on notice.
How the heck are you only watching this for the first time? For shame.
I’m with Cristina. How is that even possible? How are you even alive?
Is that the one with abortion?
No, seriously, I vote...

Cheezburger Network on Meg Whitman's Use of FAIL... →
lizlet:
Okay, I’m on record as enjoying the fruits of Dan Huh and the Cheezburger Network. But while I’m not a lawyer, it seems to me that a potential lawsuit would mean Cheezburger would have to legally establish some sort of ownership of the FAIL meme. And can you ever really own a meme? Who do you buy it from, 4chan?
File this one under Intellectual Property law of the FUTURE!

Apparently Twitter Stunts Make Megan Cranky
LACMA launched a new phase of the Cell Phone Stories project using their Twitter account today.
In response, I left the following as a comment on this LACMA blog post, where it’s awaiting moderation.
Being that this is the only place on the LACMA site that both mentions Cell Phone Stories and has a comment field I just want to say: impressive concept, terrible execution. Steve...

What about Twitter makes people trust brands more? I mean, that’s a huge percentage. I’m completely pondering this as a Deep Question.
Nothing helps hangovers anymore; it used to be a nice cold Coke, a joint, and as...

breast cancer & the internet.
My grandmother had her third chemo session on Monday. She’s starting to lose her hair. She’s still resisting getting her wig styled - actually, she’s resisting the wig in general. She’s thinking she’ll stick to scarves. I’m not sure she realizes my mom put the wig on hold for her.
Nana’s had the same haircut for the past 30 years. Sometimes a little...

Surviving Disney's Scarlet Letter
As Cyrus rampaged through “I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll,” the Runaways’ “Cherry Bomb” and Jett’s signature “Bad Reputation,” I couldn’t help but imagine her sitting in a movie theater watching the recent biopic about that teen-age band. How could she not relate to the story of those wild girls, manipulated in ways connected to, though...

That’s awesome.
Hockey loves its big gay sons. Well, it tries to. RIP Brendan Burke.

Food In LA
itsalloverbabyblue:
So we saw Anthony Bourdain speak last night at Royce Hall thanks to extraordinarily good luck, good connections and good friends. He was witty, charming, full of smart spite for the celebrity “foodie” culture, grateful for this bonus round of living he’s getting to do. We all acknowledge that he’s got the best job in the world, the best life most of us could wish for, even...

Everything You Know About Concert Photography is... →
This about covers it! I’d frame the post by noting the problem with most concert photography (and advice to those trying to make that their profession) is that concert photography has turned into an industry full of specific tropes and those who ape those tropes poorly.
Concert photography grew with the broadcast industry. It was supported and needed by the music industry, to deliver flashy...
